Infants
We serve children from birth to 24 months in a warm, nurturing environment that helps our youngest learners feel secure and ready to explore the world.
Toddlers
We serve children from 24-36 months old. Children receive hands-on guidance as they discover the joy of learning through play.
Pre-K
Our pre-K classrooms serve children ages 3-5 and build the foundation for lifelong learning. We cultivate the essential academic, social, and emotional skills that set students up for success throughout their lifetime.
Our of early learning programs offer:
A safe, nurturing, and responsive environment designed to spark exploration and offer endless opportunities for a child's imagination to soar while they learn to solve problems, develop social skills, and bolster healthy habits.
Extracurricular activities, such as visual and performing arts, dance, martial arts, physical education, and yoga, to promote physical development, build self-esteem, and provide a well-rounded education.
Delicious, healthful meals at no additional charge and served family-style to develop healthy bodies and minds while teaching independence and social skills while students interact over meal time.
Wraparound Supports
Affordability isn’t the only concern when it comes to a commitment to an equitable early learning environment. As a Head Start and Early Head Start program with a unique relationship to the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, we offer developmental, health, hearing, and vision screenings to support children in receiving early interventions that have proven to change the course of their lives for the better. Our educators and staff also work with families to connect them with resources when they or their children are in need or experiencing hardships.
Systemic Change
Beginning Futures is a leader in driving quality improvement through peer mentorship and professional development. Thanks to partnerships and funding through the Gateway Early Childhood Alliance, St. Louis Mental Health Board, and IFF’s Joyful Spaces Initiative, Beginning Futures screens more than 115 students outside of its own program and works with more than 20 ECE centers and home-based providers across St. Louis to enhance facilities and environments, curriculum, and approaches to mental health and social-emotional learning.
Our STEAM Curriculum
Our classrooms are infused with STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts, and math—and designed to make learning hands-on.
Each day, eight activity centers are set up around the classroom: sensory, science, math, arts, writing, dramatic play, construction, and open-ended materials that allow students to create and learn freely. Activities are thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are developmentally, and teachers guide them as they tackle increasingly complex tasks and concepts. The curriculum is designed to develop early literacy, math, critical thinking, communication, confidence, emotional, and social skills children need to thrive in school and life.
